Project Introduction:
LPI Group were commissioned by Mercury Engineering to provide the turnkey delivery of the lightning protection system, internal earthing system and surge protection to the National Children’s Hospital, located at St. James’ Hospital Campus, Dublin, Ireland.
As the largest, most complex, and significant capital investment project undertaken within Irish healthcare, the completion of the new National Children’s Hospital will improve the delivery of acute children’s health services where all paediatric specialities will be available under one roof.
The world-class healthcare facility will cover 12 acres, consisting of 7 floors above ground and 3 below ground, with an approximate floor area of 160,000m2. There will be a total of 6150 rooms in the hospital, 380 of which will be individual rooms for children complete with en-suite bathrooms.
Through close collaboration with Mercury Engineering, LPI Group have designed, supplied, and installed our high-performance external lightning protection system, internal earthing system and surge protection system across the campus. Upon completion and commissioning, this will guarantee the coordinated system’s code compliance and lightning protection to the building, its equipment and most importantly, personnel at the state-of-the-art healthcare facility.
