PROJECT INTRODUCTION:

LPI is proud to have completed its second Data Centre protection project in Zurich, Switzerland, on schedule, and within budget. Early collaboration between the client, the contractor, and the local Canton inspector of Zurich enabled the LPI engineering team to obtain a preliminary design scope that outlined the client’s main concerns and requirements. Following this, a design workshop was held in Zurich, where an innovative, state-of-the-art lightning protection system was developed and implemented in accordance with local DIN and European standards.
Using our latest 3D modeling software, LPI incorporated the rolling sphere concept to protect the complex structure. The use of this advanced software, allowed the LPI team to easily demonstrate to the client the fundamentals of the system and how the protection method was achieved. The system (pictured) consisted of both catenary wire, high voltage insulated air termination, and a conductor system ensuring all elements of the building were protected and eliminated from a direct lightning strike.
