Give us a brief overview of your role?

As a Quantity Surveyor (QS), I monitor the progress of construction projects and manage contract finances. I work closely with our site engineers to measure drawings and report on the earthing system and lightning protection system installation work completed. This information is used to apply for payments from contractors each month and to update the board.

How did you come to join LPI Group?

I previously worked with Sisk’s as a Junior Quantity Surveyor for nearly four years. During my time there I had the opportunity to work alongside Conor O’Dwyer, current Commercial Manager here at LPI Group.

Conor informed me at the beginning of 2023 that there was an opening for a Junior QS role in the Commercial Department of LPI Group. I decided to apply for the position and thought it would be interesting for my career to work in a niche market of lightning protection systems, earthing systems, and surge protection devices. Just over a year with LPI, I can safely say I am enjoying every moment and learning from the vast experience on our commercial team.

What’s the most exciting aspect of your role?

I love dealing with variations! Managing and pricing changes to the original contract is challenging and keeps me on my toes. It adds an element of unpredictability to the job.

Your favourite thing about working with LPI Group?

My favorite things are the office atmosphere and the learning opportunities. The camaraderie in the office is fantastic, making it a fun place to work. Everyone is very helpful, and I enjoy coming to work every day.

The learning opportunities are also great. I’ve worked on projects in the UK and Europe, and site visits to data centers in London and Amsterdam have really helped me understand the project life cycle.

Away from work, what do you like to do?

I’m a sports enthusiast. I play hurling for Civil Service GAA in Dublin and I’m a passionate Tipperary man. In my spare time, I enjoy playing PlayStation. As for a secret talent, I can juggle, which is a fun skill not many people know about.
